State Parks Overview

Utah has 45 state parks that are a combination of heritage, scenic and recreation parks. You can camp, boat, swim, fish, picnic, visit interpretive areas, golf, hike, bike, ride off-highway vehicles or just relax with family and friends. Even in winter, cross-country skiers, snowmobilers, ice fishers and campers are taking advantage of Utah State Parks. Recreation opportunites found in the state parks are as diverse as the parks themselves.

The majority of state park campgrounds remain open year-round. Reservations are not required but are suggested during peak seasons. In most of the state, peak season is from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Peak season at southern Utah state parks is from Easter weekend through October 31.

Length of stay generally is limited to 14 days within any 30-day period. Check-in time at parks is from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Wasatch Mountain). One vehicle with up to eight occupants and any attached recreational equipment is allowed per campsite.
